new acquisition: hector and the secrets of love by francois lelord
the first hector book was awesome :) it really resembles the little prince/the alchemist, just like what it says on the back cover. very wise and charming. i liked lelord’s way of narrating. almost children’s books-like. though the fact that he implicitly mentioned the countries involved in the story made me think somehow. i don’t know if he means something by that, perhaps because of political or racial reasons…
he mentioned the philippines! the women on oilcloths, forming the map of their archipelago (spoiler). all i can say is that it’s fun to know that foreigners still see our happiness through all the poverty that we undergo.
one thing i didn’t like is that hector banged girls everywhere he went. one in china, one in africa. and he met his ex-girlfriend in america, the land of more. i thought it was unnecessary for the story, plus to think that hector has a girlfriend in france. (spoiler again) .oh well, maybe that’s how romantic the french are -_-
so now i bought lelord’s second book. i think i will learn a lot from here. im sure of it.
